Wubba Bubba

Hubba, Hubba, Hubba!
That's my Wubba, Bubba!

~~~~~~~~~~
We've finally talked Rama and Dad into taking us to the lake for a few days. The rolling doghouse (RV) is packed with our favorite toys, refreshments, and tunes.
Wroooo, wroooo!
As Willie says:
On the road again....
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway.
We're the best of friends,
Insisting that the world keep turning our way and our way.
See y'all next week.
Monday's Memory Mosaic ~Snake Bite
On a warm, July evening in 2007, Hubby took Sassy out for her last potty trip of the night.  For some reason I had not pulled the car in the garage. As hubby walked on one side of the car, he heard Sassy yelp from the other side. He realized immediately that something serious had happened.
They both came running into the house and the look in Sassy's eyes told me she was in trouble.  It was difficult to restrain and examine her, as she was in so much pain, she was trying to run away to escape the agony.  Can you imagine?
When we discovered the two, very small puncture wounds, we knew she had been bitten by a snake and needed immediate medical attention.
We live in the "boondocks"  and the closest emergency vet is 25 (very long during an emergency) miles away. I think we made the trip in 15 minutes.
( Do the math!)
Sassy was on antibiotics and pain meds for awhile, but the worst therapy was "no swimming" (in July) orders from the VET.
She will always have a scar, as if we needed a reminder of that scary evening.
Sunday is for Family
Mother
Thomaston, Ga
~1984
This is the first and last time Mother was ever on a lawnmower.
The new, red Snapper was a birthday present for my step-father and Mother had to make sure it was in perfect condition.
(Yes, she has on black pantyhose under her jeans.
She wore hose everyday!)
"How do I stop this thing!?!"
Squirrels
Dad has been on the Squirrel Warpath again!
Squirrels are pretty easy to catch if you have the right trap.
Squirrels get p.o.'d when caught and say some pretty ugly words.
Rama tries to keep the nasty-mouthed varmints as comfortable as possible until Dad and Sas transport them to their new  (undisclosed) home.
(Notice the squirrel  enjoying a fan and some fresh peach.)
"Dad, can we stop by Dairy Queen on the way home?"
Happy Trails
I saw this on Life with Dogs and had to share.
Ick, A Tick!
I want to remind all you pups to check your peeps for ticks after they've been outside.
I found this one crawling on Rama!
Ewwww!
Must be time for her Advantix application.
Monday's Memory ~R.E.A.D. Program
Ms. Kit's Class and Their Special Reading Buddies
The last five years I taught, my classes participated in The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program.
R.E.A.D. dogs are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handlers as a team, going to schools, libraries and other settings as reading companions for children.
I was the first teacher in the county school system to volunteer for the program, not surprising, huh?
At the end of the first year, the program was so successful, (students improved fluency and self-confidence while reading aloud), other teachers volunteered for the program.
(A colleague presented each dog owner and me with the above framed photo.)
We're Hot and Tired
We're hot and tired here in North Georgia.
There's nothing exciting going on, so instead of boring you with posts about nothing, we've decided to take a little break from blogging.
We'll still be checking in with all our blogging buddies!
Ciao for now!
I need a nap...
Update on Becca
Our good furiend Becca and her mom, Ms. L, dropped by for a visit this week. Becca had been to the VET and we are happy to report that she is feeling and looking great!
Her appetite is good and she loved the apple treats we received from Remington.
She felt so good, she went investigating upstairs.
We see you, Becca!
Ms. L thanks everyone for their prayers and pawsitive thoughts and asks that you continue to think of Becca.
Many of you knew that Jed Clampett's Bloodhound was named Duke. However, Ms. Kim, from Life at Golden Pines shared some information I did not know. Duke's real name was Stretch.
Give that lady a Krispy Kreme doughnut!
Surprises from Remington
If you remember yesterday's post, I mentioned a surprise package we received in the mail, from an undisclosed tall, dark, handsome, polite, kind, and generous puppy.
(Whew, that's a mouthful!)
Well, if you guessed Remington, you are correct!
Remington's blog is one of my favorites, as Newfoundlands are one of my favorite breeds. Rem is the perfect example of a loving and lovable Newfie. The pictures of Rem and his kitty-sister, Ozabella, melt my heart.
Remington and his mom, Ms. B, sent a fun-filled box of pressies!
Cool stuffs just kept coming out of the box:
Wubba, Hyper Gnaws Big Stick, Apple Flavored Treats (Dad tried one),
Kong Football, and a Beautiful Card/Bookmark for Mom.
And guess what? All the toys have squeakers!
Thanks Rem and Ms. B for making our 4th of July wild and crazy!
It hurts my feet to just look at Mother's shoes.
She always wore heels.
Give me a pair of Teva flipflops, please.
We received a surprise in the mail from a tall, dark, handsome, polite, kind, and generous puppy.
Would you like to know who sent the package?
Check back tomorrow and we'll tell you all about it.
Almost the End
You know how you hate to come to the end of a great book?
I feel the same way about my Nylabone.
It takes a lot of time and effort to gnaw on the bone to a comfortable, manageable size.
Then Rama decides it's time to discard the bones to avoid accidental swallowing.
She's not afraid to stick her hand down a pup's throat to retrieve a lodged Nylabone.
I will miss you, old friend.
Sassy is asking St. Francis to please watch over Madi's kitty bro, Harley, as he hasn't been feeling well this week.
Feel better soon, Harley!
We hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July!
Fetching Slippers
Sure, I'll fetch your slippers.
Just keep your seat in the living room.
Nom, Nom, Nom...
 I'll be right there...
I can't find the left slipper.
Oh Yeah, this is so goooood!
Relax, I'm on my way right now!
Hold your horses!
Mmmm, that's a disgusting smell...
This could go on for a while.
You won't tell her, will you?
