What's Cooking?

We received a cool Christmas pressie from our LabraPal, Jack.

Jack sent us a book!

The Three Dog Bakery Cookbook

Thanks Jack!

Oooh, let's have Woof Woof Waffles for breakfast.

Yum, look at those Hungry Mongrel Turkey Burgers!

I want some Chowdown Cheesy Casserole!

We've been salivating like Pavlov's dog just looking at the photos, until we remembered...

We can't cook!

And to make matters worse, after the Holidays there is a strict rule in our house:

(Just like a couple of guys to think I want to do more cooking right now!)
:)

So, we're hoping Jack and TG are planning a trip to Georgia real soon so they can help us whip up some of these recipes! Otherwise, we'll just be drooling over the photos!

Buddy received his 2nd prolotherapy treatment Wednesday afternoon.
The needle used is the size of a knitting needle (well, maybe not quite), and the injection is deep and long-lasting. The vet compared it to a cortisone shot.
He was such a brave, sweet boy, wagging his tail during the entire procedure. It's still too early to know if this will work, but I like the new vet and have confidence in her.

He's on pain meds again and clueless resting comfortably.

He said these Cheesy Apple Nips would make him feel much better!

Who could resist that face?

DogDaze is making some changes in 2011.

I've gotten myself into a blogging rut...stale, burned out, and bored!

Blogging has become too much like work, and that's NO FUN!
I've decided that I don't need to make daily posts.
Whew, that's a relief!

I'll still be checking in and keeping up with all our friends, just less frequently.

As we all know blogging is time-consuming and  it's time for me to spend less time sitting at this computer and more time living my life!

Thank you for understanding!

Sorry we've been gone so long. Rama and Buddy have been lazy
resting Buddy's ACL injury.

We had a great Christmas, although one pressie still has Rama scratching her head. More on that next time.

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and spent time with the ones you love.

Speaking of the ones you love...

Please join us in sending positive, comforting thoughts to our relentlessly huge and lovable furiend, Mango.

Mango had another visit from the evil seizure monster and the earth literally shook at his house. His peeps and LabraBro Dexter are taking good care of him.

Speaking of Dexter...

Buddy says "Thanks" for the nice card and kind words of encouragement.

We had never heard of prolotherapy, but are willing to give it a try in an attempt to avoid surgery.

The vet's office was closed today due to icy roads, so we will reschedule Buddy's 2nd  treatment. I can't say that I have seen any improvement this week, although he was happy while taking the pain meds. He wasn't happy about missing the snow fun!

And speaking of snow....

Most of you know that our good furiend, Remington, has been doing his best to deliver snow to his buddies all over the country.

We waited patiently, knowing that Rem wouldn't let us down. I think everyone on the east coast will agree.
Sure enough, we had snow on Christmas Day.
What a treat!

Cousins Lucy Marie, Jackie,
Me and My Sis, Brunie the Doxie

I remember feeling a bit jealous when Lucy Marie's baby sister,  Cousin Jackie was born. But when Jackie started crying, pooping and spitting up, I realized pups make pretty good sisters.

~~~~~~~~~~
I want to thank you for all the positive thoughts and kind words for Buddy's recovery.
It is also encouraging to know that some of you have had success with prolotherapy.
He continues to rest comfortably, although not happy about his limited exercise.
We're taking a break from blogging during the holidays.
We would like to wish you, our dear blogging friends, a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
If there is light in the soul, there will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person, there will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house, there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.
Buddy ~ Torn ACL
The news at the alternative vet was not good...
Buddy has a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
He might need surgery, but Dr. Mary, who I liked very much, suggested trying prolotherapy first.
(Area where he was clipped before receiving injections.)
If he responds well to the therapy, he will receive another round of injections in 10 days.
In the meantime, he is on pain meds, receiving minimal exercise, and being waiting on hand and "paw."
 Such a sweet boy!
~~~~~~~~~~~

We do have some happy news...

We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to one of my oldest friends, Ms. Susan!
By old, I mean we have known each other since I was in high school.
I guess that would make us old, as in elderly, too.

HappyBirthday
Have a wonderful day, S!

Sassy Says ~Can You Dig It?

Grazing in the grass is a gas...
Baby, can you dig it?

With so much of the country blanketed in ice, snow, and cold, we thought we could all use a little grazing in the grass.

"Grazing in the Grass" is an instrumental composed by Philemon Hou and first recorded by the South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela. It is recognizable by its prominent cowbell part. Released in the United States as a single in 1968, it hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The Friends of Distinction recorded a vocal cover version of the tune in 1969 which was also a Top Ten pop and R&B hit, reaching #3 on the former and #5 on the latter. (wikipedia)

I prefer Masekela's version.

Buddy has been experiencing stiffness in his left, hind quarters for some time. Our regular, conventional vet has been treating him with chondroitin and aspirin, with little success.
Buddy has an appointment with a new, alternative vet this afternoon.

I'm fairly certain she's going to use the D word.
No one should have to go on a diet during the holidays, no matter how much they (Buddy and I) need to.
We'll keep you posted.

Nom, Nom...
Happy weekend, everyone!

I'm Mad as Hell!

I apologize for the outburst...

Anyone who knows me or follows this blog knows that it takes a lot to get me riled....

But this did it!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Look at all the great cards we've received from friends, family, and  the Christmas Card Exchange, hosted by The Fiesty Three, Sprinkles, and Frankie Furter.

Thank you very much!

Somehow, I was put in charge of displaying all the cards.

Better shake a leg.
(I have some info about my leg, that I'll share in a later post.)

I like that....

Yep, that will work!
(BTW, the tree is a Noble Pine and smells great.
Rama says it doesn't need watering, imagine that!)

As you can see, there's still room for more cards.

So keep those cards coming!

Ho, Ho, Ho!

Looks like Mother lost that snowball fight.
But then, what does a girl from Savannah know about snowball fights?

Our weather might get interesting today, as we are under a Winter Weather Advisory.  Our good friend, Remington from Minnesota, has been trying his best to send snow to all his buddies...
Keeping our paws crossed and doing a snow dance!

Sassy Says

Love, Peace and Soul
~Don Cornelius

The complete quote by  Cornelius, the host of Soul Train:
"... and you can bet your last money, it's all gonna be a stone gas, honey! I'm Don Cornelius, and as always in parting, we wish you love, peace and soul!"

Soul Train was an American musical variety show that aired in syndication from October 1971 to March 2006.
In its 35-year history, the show primarily featured performances by R&B, soul, and hip hop artists, although funk, jazz, disco, and gospel artists have also appeared.

Sorry about the poor quality of this video, (and the ad) but I think you'll agree, it's a blast from the past!

Monday's Mosaic Memory ~Crater Lake National Park

I can't remember how many times we've been to Crater Lake N.P., but I will never forget the trip during Spring Break, 1995.

It had started snowing by the time we reached the information office at the beginning of the ascent to the lake, so we decided to save time and not stop. We didn't think we needed any info...
The road was completely snow-covered and the parking lot was empty when we reached the lodge.

It was snowing very hard and kind of eerie since the place was deserted, so we started back down the mountain.
When we reached the info office we went inside to check out the gift shop.  The park ranger apologetically informed us that the road to the lake was closed due to weather and that we wouldn't be able to visit.

He was shocked when we told him we had just returned from the lake. He wanted to know where Hubby had learned to drive on snow like that.

"Birmingham, Alabama," he replied, in his best Forrest Gu-ump voice.
Ha!

FYI:
Before we retired and bought an RV, we flew to Portland and rented RVs several times.
If you're considering buying a recreational vehicle, I would strongly recommend renting before buying.

Not for Us!?!

Hey Zack, is this pressie for us?

Sorry Buddy, this package is going to Mango and Dexter.

Mango and Dexter?
Hmmmm, I wonder if I can fit into this box?

Step away from the box, Sassy!

Just a reminder, Monday, December 6, is the deadline to mail your pressies for Jazzi's Christmas Exchange.

Ho Ho Ho!

Sassy Says ~Hold On

Hold On!

Just a little bit tighter now baby.

I love you so much and

I can't let go.
No, no, no...

I'm not sure Zack and Sassy are singing love songs to each other, but I certainly love watching them play and enjoying each other.

This week's song from my senior year of high school was a one hit wonder for the group Alive N Kickin'.

The major hit for the group was written and produced by Tommy James and Bob King and arranged by Jimmy Wisner. Both James and Alive N Kickin' were signed to Roulette and James originally considered having his friends record "Crystal Blue Persuasion," but he liked it so much he decided to record it himself, so he then wrote "Tighter, Tighter" for them.

"Tighter, Tighter" was released in May 1970 and stayed on the US chart for 16 weeks.[1] It sold over one million copies and received a gold disc awarded by the R.I.A.A.[1] After lack of success with their next two singles, "Just Let It Come" and "London Bridge," and difficulties with Morris Levy and Roulette Records, the band broke up at the end of 1971.
