Sunday is for Family

Grandpa, Grandma, Mother, and Me

This photo was taken by Daddy, the day before he left for a 13 month tour of duty in South Korea.
Needless to say, I was not a happy, little girl.

  1. Ahhhhh -

    I can see that -

A past co-worker of mine has a son-in-law deploying on Monday for a year -

Luckily for Dean, his daughter and her girls will be in Williamsburg area during the time he's there - they were just transferred from North Dakota -

  4. And there were no computer conversations then! I know you were sad! It must have been nice once your daddy was home all the time. But the meal looks great! Love the Sunday posts!

  7. Love the old pictures. My "Dad" was in S. Korea for 3 years, but long after 1962.

  9. That must have been hard on you, on your whole family. I'm grateful to your family for the sacrifice. Indeed, when someone goes off to war it is the entire family that sacrifices so very much.

  11. I can see you didn't look happy at all. God Bless him for his service to our country.

I remember Sundays with family though. My grandmother would fix everything for dinner and all my aunts, uncles, cousins and myself and my mother would eat and spent the day talking and the kids playing. I really miss those days. Lots of love, Holly and mom

  18. Military life can be hard on families. You were fortunate to have so many family members around, but I know it was hard in spite of that. I always love the news stations that report on happy reunions and especially the surprises at school when Dad or Mom show up after being gone.

    Love your old pictures.
