Farewell, Hummers!

This was our last "resident" hummer of the season.
For the past several weeks Squeak sat atop the Japanese Maple tree, guarding the feeder,
through extreme heat, rain, and wind.
I haven't seen her since last weekend, however, I have seen several visitors stopping by for a quick drink at the feeder.
It's always sad to see them go and I find myself wishing  we had hummingbirds in our area year round.
But then, I guess, it wouldn't be such a treat to see them  April through October.
Until next year Hummers,

  1. We don't get very many here so they are a treat when we see one.

  2. I always kept my feeders up till Halloween, just in case of stragglers, and once in a while there would be a few. It is sad to see them go, but yes, quite a thrill when they show up in April and look in the window as it to say "Hello" (Get that feeder out, Lady!)

  3. Hey there guys...

We wanna walk with you all..we do!

I just love that pathway! You are so lucky to live in that beautiful environment.

As for the hummingbirds....well, I wish they would come this way. Unfortunately we don't have them in our country, but they are amazing, tiny creatures...aren't they!

Enjoy your 'fall'...it's bright, summer weather at this end of the globe.

    Sending lotsaluv

  9. We have them like crazy here in Austin Texas - they arent out year round but I am not able to have a humingbird feeder up anymore because a certain chocolate lab killed some of the babies last year and broke my heart!

  17. Some really nice shots of your hummers. Ours are gone as well... the bees were swarming around where the feeder used to be... How do they know that there was once a feeder there?

  19. I put a feeder out at the foot of our driveway when I saw several hummingbirds enjoying the fall blooms--The feeder is almost empty and I'm glad they were able to enjoy it so late in the season. Next year, I'll get it out much earlier and closer to the house so I can see them.

  20. It is always sad when they head south!
You could move to California and enjoy the Anna's Hummingbird ALL year round! But it's too expensive to live there anymore! :)
