This was our last "resident" hummer of the season.
For the past several weeks Squeak sat atop the Japanese Maple tree, guarding the feeder,
through extreme heat, rain, and wind.
through extreme heat, rain, and wind.
I haven't seen her since last weekend, however, I have seen several visitors stopping by for a quick drink at the feeder.
It's always sad to see them go and I find myself wishing we had hummingbirds in our area year round.
But then, I guess, it wouldn't be such a treat to see them April through October.
Until next year Hummers,
Auntie Di loves watching hers!

Khyra
We don't get very many here so they are a treat when we see one.
ReplyDeleteI always kept my feeders up till Halloween, just in case of stragglers, and once in a while there would be a few. It is sad to see them go, but yes, quite a thrill when they show up in April and look in the window as it to say "Hello" (Get that feeder out, Lady!)
ReplyDelete:-)
Hey there guys...
ReplyDeleteWe wanna walk with you all..we do!
I just love that pathway! You are so lucky to live in that beautiful environment.
As for the hummingbirds....well, I wish they would come this way. Unfortunately we don't have them in our country, but they are amazing, tiny creatures...aren't they!
Enjoy your 'fall'...it's bright, summer weather at this end of the globe.

Seeing the hummers go is one of the last rites of summer - and I always miss them.

Beautiful collage! And it is hard to see them go. The pups look like they are on a mission! Love that pic!
ReplyDeleteCool pics. I missed watching
ReplyDeletethe hummers this summer.
We have them like crazy here in Austin Texas - they arent out year round but I am not able to have a humingbird feeder up anymore because a certain chocolate lab killed some of the babies last year and broke my heart!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about the hummers leaving for the winter. They are sooooo cute and I miss mine a lot.
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, I haven't seen any here either. Guess they go really south for the winter!
ReplyDeleteI guess they are heading south....Hey I'm South...I'll tell them Hello for you if they fly by :)
ReplyDeleteIt's always so exciting to spot the Hummers! I've never managed to get a photo though ~ fabulous collage!
ReplyDeleteI just can't leave the comment that comes to mind and it's killing me. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the new header picture! Where's everyone going!! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly
ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had more of them here.
Some really nice shots of your hummers. Ours are gone as well... the bees were swarming around where the feeder used to be... How do they know that there was once a feeder there?
ReplyDeleteSo sad to say goodbye....but will be back next year....great pics!
ReplyDeleteI put a feeder out at the foot of our driveway when I saw several hummingbirds enjoying the fall blooms--The feeder is almost empty and I'm glad they were able to enjoy it so late in the season. Next year, I'll get it out much earlier and closer to the house so I can see them.
ReplyDeleteIt is always sad when they head south!
ReplyDeleteYou could move to California and enjoy the Anna's Hummingbird ALL year round! But it's too expensive to live there anymore! :)
I think it keeps things special when you don't have them all the time, don't you?
