Positive Thoughts for Buddy, Please

As I type, Buddy is having TPLO surgery in Atlanta.

Long story short, we had an appointment with an orthopedic vet at Veterinary Referral Surgical Practice this morning. It didn't take long for Dr. Noone to determine that Buddy's cranial cruciate ligament is completely ruptured.

There will be a 12 week recovery period, but all I can think about right now is getting my boy through surgery.
Please send him some positive thougths and energy.
Thank you and I will keep you updated.

5:00 PM EST

Dr. Noone just called.
Surgery went well and Buddy is doing fine.
We will be able to bring him home tomorrow and begin the very long road to recovery.
As Dr. Noone said, the vet's part is easy compared to the rehabiliation period for the pup and the peeps.

I'm just relieved that he is out of surgery and resting.
Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.
~K

Hurry home, Bubba!
We miss you!

  13. OMD. Been there. Done that. I didn't have the TPLO... I had the old fashioned (but still works pretty good for little dogs & is WAY cheaper) surgery.

Good luck. I know several dogs who have done really well with TPLO.

  29. We read about Buddy on Mango & PeeWee's blog and popped over to give you our best wishes.

We will certainly keep our paws crossed for Buddy's speedy & complete recovery. One of our German Shephard friends had that surgery and while it also took him a few months to recover, he enjoyed a total recovery and is romping like a puppy again.

How is Cami doing? We're keeping our paws crossed for her, too.

  34. Holding pawsitive thoughts for a quick recovery for Buddy. Mango and Dexter said it was gonna be a long 12 weeks for y'all. I know I would have a real hard time staying still that long! Maybe learning to meditate? Thinking the vet must have provided some meds to help get you through it. Paws crossed for yaz :)

  40. Sooooo sorry to hear about Buddy's knee. I am relieved he made it through surgery though. I remember how stressful it was for me during Moose's first few weeks post op. It is a challenge to keep them calm when other dogs are around (or even when it is just one for that matter) but I know you can do it. TPLO was a miracle for my Moose and hope it is the same for you guys.
Paws crossed! I have been absent from blogger lately but will be keeping a close eye for updates and if you have any questions feel free to email me! Hang in there!

  48. I came via Mango's blog. I had a cruciate repair and menicus tear(which was removed) a couple years ago. The ortho opted not to do the TPLO but a traditional repair since I am only 60 lbs. I am doing great :) Come by and visit or if you have questions you can ask mom :)

  51. Hi Buddy - I found your blog from Mango's blog. I am so happy to meet you - my name is Indy Bones and I am a 2 year old chocolate lab who lives in the USA, in Maryland with my humans (Diane and David). I am so sorry to hear about your surgery but I am so happy to hear you got thru it ok. My human Diane writes for me so if there are mistakes, blame her, ok? She types too fast sometimes. I bookmarked your blog so I can read about your recovery and your fun adventures. I don't have a blog but I will keep checking in on you to see how you are doing, ok?

    Your new friend,

    Indiana Bones Taylor
