Sassy Says
Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy~The Tams~

As you can see, I had a great time at the lake w/ the girls.They're dreading the thought of starting back to school the first week in August.
It's sad for me too, as I will be losing all my playmates!

Pictures from New Mexico

Remember, he's not looking for the most picturesque or scenic campsite. He's seeking a remote, dark location with plenty of open sky for star-gazing.
This is how Zack and Sassy spent most of the days,
I think the dirt must have been cooler to Sassy. I don't think you can see it, but the dogs are tethered. They were tethered at all times, as there were coyotes and wolves close by.
Of course, everyone preferred sleeping inside.
The sofa was a favorite spot.
Sweet dreams, Sas.

I'm heading to the lake with my girlfriends for a couple of days.
I think Hubby will enjoy the time alone as I've been smothering him with attention since his return.
I hope my auto post works while I'm away. I'll catch up with all of you at the end of the week.

Welcome Home, Family
Hubby, Zack and Sassy arrived home at approximately 12:10 AM this morning, after 16 hours on the road. I'm afraid Buddy's enthusiasm was a bit over-whelming for the weary travelers. After a good night's sleep, everyone will be ready to play tomorrow.
Welcome Home, Family.

Gumbie the Sled Dog in OK
Gumbie, the former sled dog from Warren Palfrey's 2009 Yukon Quest team,
He has been spending the summer at Doug's cabin in CO (11,000') where I'm sure the temps are a bit cooler than OK.Gumbie met the rest of his new family while in OK, including the canine residents, Lilly and Max. Doug reports that everyone got along well.

Buddy and I had some excitement last night. I took Buddy out to do his evening "business" around 10:15. About 10 minutes later I heard a commotion on the deck and assumed it was the raccoons raiding the bird feeders. Then I heard something louder and heavier than a raccoon. I turned on the outside lights and there was a huge, beautiful black bear standing on its hind legs with a paw in the feeder. Instead of running when I turned on the light, it got down on all fours and started walking toward the bedroom door, as if it thought I had a treat for it! At that point Buddy went crazy barking and the bear ambled off, no hurry!
Although I was initially terrified, I was also very excited to have the opportunity to see this beautiful creature. I just hope I don't see it again until Hubby gets home.
(Thanks for the call from ND to check on me, Vicki.)

Buddy's New Friend
When Buddy decided to take a lick, I decided it was time to put him in the house until Mr. Turtle had wandered off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm keeping a secret from Buddy. The star-gazers are starting home from New Mexico today!
If I tell him, he'll just drive me crazy asking when they'll be here, so it's best to make it a surprise! And yes, I am very happy they are heading home.
