Where's Winter?

I know the unseasonably, mild temperatures and lack of snow in the lower 48 have many of us asking,
"Where's Winter?"

We even have daffodils blooming in our yard,
in JANUARY!

But we know where to find Old Man Winter...

Good Morning Anchorage and Ms. Ina and Pups,
where it's a toasty 9 BELOW zero!

"This camera is located on the north side of 4th Avenue, at the intersection of 4th Avenue and D street.  The camera looks toward the south-west, down the length of the avenue.  This camera also catches several downtown events such as the Fur Rondy and the Iditarod."

Be sure to check out Ms. Ina's blog to see how she's dealing with winter in Anchorage!   Ha!

And if that's not cold enough for you....
how about -48, in beautiful downtown Fairbanks!

"The ArcticCam gives the real-time view from the second floor of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner building in Fairbanks, Alaska. The camera is looking south toward the Chena River and downtown Fairbanks. The church on the left is Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, which dates to the founding of Fairbanks. It was moved to its present location in 1911. The church is on the National Registry of Historic Sites. The building on the right is the Big International (Big I) Bar."

You'll find several comments on ArcticCam from the hearty, good-natured locals,  describing how they are dealing with this recent "cold snap."

Kind of makes us pups glad we live in Georgia!

We're sending lots of warm thoughts to all our friends in Alaska!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, wherever you hang your hat!

The Bark Side

We would like to apologize for being MIA from Bloggerville lately.
Rama, our secretary, is keeping her New Year's resolution:

Less time on computer,
More time on loved ones!
(We're not complaining.)

Mango Minster 2012

We know it's hard to believe,
but it's that time of year again!

Our relentlessly huge amigo, Mango, proudly presents

Zack was humbled and proud to win 2nd place in the Good Sport category in MM 2010.

As soon as we saw this year's categories, we knew Sassy must enter the Bad Sport category.

Don't let Sassy's sweet, southern charms fool y'all. When it comes to tennis balls, she's as relentless as an LSU Tiger with a corndog!

She becomes
Nasty Sassy!

Let the games begin,
and good luck to all competitors!

New Year's Advice

from Charlie Brown:

Keep the ball low, don't leave your crayons in the sun, use dental floss every day, don't spill the shoe polish, always knock before entering, don't let the ants get in the sugar, never volunteer to be a program chairman, always get your first serve in, and feed your dog whenever he's hungry.
Follow this advice and you will have a better life and a fat dog.

Happy Tails to you
 in 2012!

He Came!

Christmas Morn
2011

Hubby cut the little tree on our property Christmas morning, and it took us 15 minutes  (and a glass of wine) to decorate!
Dog-friendly and perfect!

Ho! Ho! Ho!

You better watch out!

You better not cry!

Better not pout,
I'm telling you why...

Santa Claus is coming to town!

Merry Christmas
and
Happy Holidays
from all of us at
DogDaze.

Broken Tail Bone

Our mom's tail bone is broken and she is unable to sit comfortably.

It's not broken, Sassy; the doctor says she is suffering with Sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction,
which is a fancy way of saying, Rama's getting old!

She's in a good bit of pain, and will start physical therapy next week.

Losing 20 pounds would certainly help Rama's condition...but you didn't hear that from ME!

In the meantime, we are "suspending"
the DogDaze campaign until further notice.
We will miss y'all,
and hope to be back soon!
Ciao for now!

Snow in North Georgia

Y'all are not going to believe what I saw this morning....

SNOW, in North Georgia,
in November!

It melted right away, and we didn't go out to play, but it was fun watching it fall!

Sicker Than a Dog

No, don't worry,
none of us pups here at DogDaze are sick...

Unfortunately,
I can't say the same for the hoomans.

DDD got sick first and, like everything else, he shared it with Rama.

I'm taking good care of them...

Making sure they have all the essentials,

including the beautiful, curly Crimson Tide scarf knitted for Rama by Madi's Mom.
I'll be sure she wears it again tomorrow during the Iron Bowl.

(Thank you, HiC, I love it, and you!)

We would appreciate positive energy and thoughts sent to our good friends, Jake and Ms. Kim at Golden Pines.
Thank you!

Let's Celebrate

Happy 10th Gotcha' Day to Zack!

Zack's Petfinder page listed him as URGENT, meaning he had less than 24 hours before euthanasia.
Hubby and I took off work early and drove 3 hours, barely making it to the shelter before they closed.

This is the first picture I took of Zack, the day after we brought him home.
I'm sure he was wondering,
"What have I gotten himself into?"

Ten years later, he's a happy, handsome, antler-free boy!

As if that were not enough reason to celebrate...

seventeen years ago today,
Hubby and I eloped to St. George Island, FL.

Of course, the kids went along on the honeymoon.

Leave it to Buddy

Whew!
We are covered up with leaves here at DogDaze.

I'm not exactly sure how many leaves we have...

I got tired and stopped counting when I got to
 "ten!"

As you can see in the video, I've been helping  rake them up.
Do you help out with the chores, too?

Happy Weekend and (as always)
