It was so easy to give a birthday party 50 years ago. Just throw down some blankets, have a cake, give the kids a hat-
Instant Party!
Mother asked me what kind of cake I wanted. I requested a devil's food cake with white icing and pink coconut. She made me the same cake every year.
Life was Good!

Kit, I was so startled when I read your comment about the devil's food cake! Every year my mother would ask me what kind of cake I wanted for my birthday and every year I requested the same thing, "Devils' food!" We have some things in common: taught first grade, born in May, and devil's food cake. We must be soul sistahs! Hope you had a great birthday, you're a pretty great lady!
