Surround yourself with positive people,
energy, and situations;
always avoid negativity.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So, love the people who treat you right.

Laying Low with Rama

Rama's back has been giving her fits lately.
She doesn't feel like playing with us and her moaning and groaning is a real downer.

I convinced her it was time to see the doctor.

The doctor sent her for some tests (teachers hate  tests). She passed a couple tests with flying colors, yay Rama!
But she didn't do so well on one and will have to take another test next week.

In the meantime,

this is Rama's view for the next few days. She's only comfortable flat on her back.

Not to worry, we're taking real good care of her.
Wherever she steps, one of us is right there.

Needless to say, we won't be blogging until Rama is feeling better, and we're hoping that is sooner than later!
Ciao for now!

ありがとうございます。Fusako

ありがとうございます。

(Thank you, in Japanese)

Last week, we received a package in the mail from the other side of the world, really.

(Fusako and Me, 1990)

It was from one of my favorite, former second graders, Fusako,

(Fusako, holding Koala)

who lives in Japan.

The package contained

a beautiful hanging flower vase,

a really cool bandana from a Japanese Earthquake Animal Relief Org,

and a couple DVDs Fusako had converted from old videos, made while she was in my class, twenty years ago.
What a hoot those were to watch!

Thank you, Fusako,
for the wonderful gifts and,
especially, the
fun memories.

Is anyone else having trouble leaving comments on blogs lately, or is it just me?

RIP, Raider

We were shocked and saddened when we heard from Raider's mom that he had suddenly crossed The Bridge yesterday.

According to Kath, Raider was running with the wind in his fur one minute, and the next minute he was gone, suffering an apparent stroke or heart attack.

Raider had a wonderful life, travelling all over the United States and Canada with his peeps.

We will light a candle and watch for the brightest star tonight.
We will miss you Raider.

Please drop by and leave Raider's family a kind word during this difficult time.
Thank you,
~K
