Fifteen years ago, as the world descended on Atlanta for the 1996 Summer Olympics, Hubby and I decided it was a good time to get the Heck out of Dodge!
We spent 3 weeks wandering aimlessly camping in Alaska, Yukon and Northwest Territories, with no real destination, except Eagle, AK.
We had traveled the Taylor Highway to Eagle a couple years earlier and developed a friendship with Wayne (Yukon Quest Veteran) and Scarlett Hall, owners of Bush Alaska Expeditions.
Matt Hall, their son, was just a little fellow back then, growing up on the Yukon River with 20+ sled dogs as his playmates.
Matt's love and respect for these special dogs was evident at an early age.

Today, Matt is carrying on the family tradition with his own team of sled dogs at Smokin' Ace Kennels.
Happy Trails, Matt!!!

What a grrrreat trip that must have been. Love the Cabin picture... butt you can just KEEP THE SNOW.
Your trip sounds like it was so much fun! I love Alaska and would go back in a heart beat, but the Hub prefers warmer vacation climes. That picture of you on the porch of the cabin looks like it could have come straight from the movie, "Deliverance!" Ha! Adventuresome and hardy people.
What great fun!! We wish Matt tons of Lhasa luck!!

You look exactly the same as you did fifteen years ago!
I meant the cabin. :)
That sounds like a great trip - my wife always wanted to go to Alaska. Maybe we will make it one day!
A little too rustic for me! Looks like it was a fun trip, though! Way to go, Matt!
Great post Kit!! I couldn't see your pictures. The old puter is being lazy today it hasn't wanted to load hardly anything today!!!!!!
Thrilled to be here.

PS, I have had 6 dogs in the last 38 years and Tinker is the only one who has ever dig out!!!!!!
hello to you there in north ga, we are here near the big granite rock.
Looks like an awesome trip. I always have wanted to go to Alaska and see some dog sledding. I can only imagine how exhilarating it can be with the cold crisp wind in ones face and the power being pulled by some talented team members.
Looks like you have a loving fun place and many warm noses to kiss.
God bless and keep you all safe.
Hello Kit,
Thank you for the contribution to my new kennel. Your right I don't remember you but it would be fun to meet up again. I will be living in Fairbanks next winter with mu girlfriend and plan to do lots of racing over the next few years so we might meet then if you keep coming up to the starts of the Iditarod.
Glad you liked the site and hope you keep following my blogs. Thanks again, Matt Hall

We are so pleased for Onyx she looks a little sweetie, and she has landed on all four paws just great.
