I know the unseasonably, mild temperatures and lack of snow in the lower 48 have many of us asking,
"Where's Winter?"
We even have daffodils blooming in our yard,
in JANUARY!
But we know where to find Old Man Winter...
Good Morning Anchorage and Ms. Ina and Pups,
where it's a toasty 9 BELOW zero!
"This camera is located on the north side of 4th Avenue, at the intersection of 4th Avenue and D street. The camera looks toward the south-west, down the length of the avenue. This camera also catches several downtown events such as the Fur Rondy and the Iditarod."
Be sure to check out Ms. Ina's blog to see how she's dealing with winter in Anchorage! Ha!
And if that's not cold enough for you....
how about -48, in beautiful downtown Fairbanks!
"The ArcticCam gives the real-time view from the second floor of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner building in Fairbanks, Alaska. The camera is looking south toward the Chena River and downtown Fairbanks. The church on the left is Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, which dates to the founding of Fairbanks. It was moved to its present location in 1911. The church is on the National Registry of Historic Sites. The building on the right is the Big International (Big I) Bar."
You'll find several comments on ArcticCam from the hearty, good-natured locals, describing how they are dealing with this recent "cold snap."
Kind of makes us pups glad we live in Georgia!
We're sending lots of warm thoughts to all our friends in Alaska!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, wherever you hang your hat!

yup! glad to be in Texas, too!
Wolę żonkile oglądać w styczniu, niż śnieg i marznąć , jak u nas jest teraz. Piesek też z zimna nie jest specjalnie zadowolony. Pozdrawiam Ciebie i podrap za uchem Twoje pieski :-). *** I prefer to see the daffodils in January, than the snow and freeze, as it is with us now. The dog also from the cold is not especially happy. I greet you and your scratch behind the ear dogs :-).
I'm in Rochester, NY and our winter has been much like the winters I remember growing up in Pensacola, Florida. The gas tank on my snowblower is still filled with gas and hasn't been cranked up since I started it in the fall to make sure it was ready to go. Trust me, I'm not complaining!
Even though it's cold up there, still not much snow for the end of January.
I expect we will get socked during the basketball tourneys.
I'm happy with it so far. :-)
We have the same question here. A lot of our trees are working up some buds and the daffodils are pushing their heads up too. We want snow but maybe not quite as cold as Alaska.

OH wow, we sure are glad we aren't hanging out in Anchorage! Pretty warm today here in our neck of the woods and we are loving it!
Oh My Dog. We can't believe how cold those places are. Brrrrr. We think its cold here in winter if the daytime temp drops to 8C (46F). Lately though we have had a heat spell with temps around 38C (100F). Take care all. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
I like looking at the Artic Cam as well. It reminds me of my trip to Alaska!
I don't want to go to Alaska cause I don't like the cold, it gives me freezy paws when I goes out and I am not a put on boots kind of girl. We just got some snow here, just enough, no more thank you very much.
licks and sniffs Sasha
Just love your Labs! We have a yellow and a black, too. We have daffodil leaves poking up at home in Ohio, but no flowers anywhere in sight yet. We just passed through your lovely state yesterday on the way to Florida. We will board Freedom of the Seas tomorrow.
We're in VA, and haven't seen a single snowflake all winter! In fact, it's 50 degrees outside as I'm writing this. It was 70 degrees Thursday. We want SNOW!!! :)
Elyse and Riley
Winter is here in the Colorado mountains too!!!! Not as cold as Alaska but the wind makes up for it.
Your header makes me smile every single time I visit.
Daffodils? That's hard to imagine. Wow.
It was 82 degrees here today, nutty even for So Cal

Visitors to my blog will see I just got back to Anchorage from LA--- oh it was a pleasure to get away! I told Mr. O that next winter I would like to escape for a minimum of 3 weeks. The cold has about done many hardy Alaskans in & my dogs have not had a walk in weeks!
Great pictures Kit! Thanks for caring. xoxo
I like it just fine here, thank you very much!
Yes, Buddy, Anchorage is on track to have the coldest winter in history!
I wonder if you took a Lab from Georgia and moved to Alaska would the fur coat become like a Huskie?! LOL
All 3 of you look strong enough to pull a sled! :)
Belly rubs to my favorite Labs!
Not sure I could ever deal with AK's temps! Glad the pups are staying warm!
We do not like the look of all that snow or the low temp in Alaska.
We have had no snow yet but they say its comming.

Brrrrrrr! That's cold! We've had no snow at all this winter, here in our little corner of the UK. I do love a bit of snow, but maybe not that much. have a great week. Ros and Oscar
Wow, those "Arctic Cams" are something else. It's too bad that Alaska is missing out on the warm winter that the rest of us are experiencing. Your daffodil is pretty, I like the long slender petals!
Yesterday on my walk I also saw a yard full of crocuses, and a tree with white blooms. Truly unheard of in January! It's strange too, how it's "shifted" something inside. The flowers, along with the increasing daylight (which always catches my attention by the end of January), has me in sort of a springtime mood. I had such an urge this weekend to put away my winter decorations, the snowman, and my snowman mugs. It feels like March both outside and in my head!
My Alaska friends have my sympathy this year--But I so wish I could have just a little, little bit of their snow!! :-)
Hey!! Stopping back by because I looked at the cameras and caught a glimpse of the office where I worked for 10 years in Midtown Anchorage--It was fun to see it again, even if it was from a distance! :-)
I do hope you're doing well and enjoying that little bit of spring in the middle of whatever season this is!
We had ice crystals floating in the air this morning. This is the closest to winter that we have seen this year. Flowers are out and I swear that the sparrows are breeding, just like our rabbits!
Good Morning Dog Daze!!
Yes indeed where is winter.
What a great post...Rama is very good a presenting information....she must have been a teacher. MOL
Love photos of you all today too.
Hugs from Madi and Mom
Our winter has been mild too! Well untill yesterday, its been freezing, but we have flowers coming up too.
Strange!

We're still waiting for a proper Winter here too although there are no daffs in the garden :-) My family must be the only one who LOVES snow, and while we've had a few "teasers" the snow melts as soon as it's fallen. Today feels like Spring leaving us asking the same question as your 3 pups "Where Is Winter ?"
Have a great weekend Kit ♥
Hey, no fair that Alaska gets all of Winter! I am missing Winter, well, snow actually, something terrible. I suppose I should move to Alaska, but my human said no way! BOL!
A flower in January. Sweet, but scary. Hope you pups are having fun. And hope you see snow at least once this Winter. :->
Suka
Thank you for visiting my blog!
You have a mild winter and flowers!
We have a lot of snow and cold winter here.
