Spring Fever

The dogs and I have gotten a bad case of Spring Fever the past couple of days. The daffodils, spirea and forsythia are blooming and the dogs are enjoying the warm sunshine. I realize that winter isn't over, as we historically receive our biggest snowstorms during March, but we're enjoying the spring-like weather while it lasts.

Enjoying the day...

I spent most of the day "trial packing" down coats and vests, turtleneck sweaters, cuddle duds, hats, gloves, scarves, snow boots, etc. for my trip to Anchorage, only 15 days away. I check the 15-day weather forecast for ANC everyday and it looks like I won't need an umbrella during my visit-chuckle!

Enjoying a game of tug of war!

Catching a few rays...

Daffodils

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Ms. K...
I'm with you! I hate winter or at least have a dislike for cold weather without snow. Our scottie dogs are tearing up the place. They must have cabin fever also. Have you looked at http://www.newsminer.com/ for some Alaska / Fairbanks news? There is an arctic cam that is real time. Thought you might enjoy.

We are not even close to daffodils yet. It was 19 degrees this morning and tomorrow the weather forecast is for chance of snow. Thanks for sending a bit of spring our way. I'm gettin' the fever too! I bet you are getting very excited to be going to see the Iditarod in Alaska. I can't imagine the energy "oozing" from those dogs at the start of the race. Looking forward to getting an "on scene" report of your visit!

Won't it be hard to leave springtime behind and head off to snowy climes? Not a chance! You'll have a great trip to Alaska. Then you can come home and spring will be "busting out all over."

I would have to dig away the snow and add a heat lamp - then maybe, just maybe I'd get some bulbs to pop...........
BTW, your dogs sent me an email - they'd like to come here and enjoy the snow............
Just thought you should know.

Those folks in Anchorage always hold their breath and hope the snow doesn't melt before the Iditarod! Did you know that the race had to start in Fairbanks a few years ago because there was nary a flake in sight all along the Parks Highway? Not a problem here in Fairbanks, that's for sure!

Glad you are excited for your trip. Always be prepared for high winds in Anchorage!
