Sunday is for Family

Daddy
(shooting a peace sign)
Tybee Island, Ga
~1970

I've posted this photo in the past, as it's one of my favorites. I can remember taking that picture as if it were yesterday.
I thought about Daddy quite a bit this past week while at the beach.
Daddy grew up in cold, snowy Erie and he loved living on the Georgia coast. He loved the seafood, mild climate, and hanging out with my surfing friends and me on Tybee Island.
I remember one particular occassion, before I had my driver's license, Daddy loaded up a bunch of my friends (and surfboards), stopped by Krispy Kreme doughnuts for the ride, and got us to the beach before sunrise for a surfing competion.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's great to be home w/ Hubby and the pups. I came home from the beach w/ fever blisters all over my lip. Sun and/or stress always does that to me.
My top lip sticks out so much from the blisters, I look like Lisa Simpson.
Happy Trails,
That's such a nice memory. Keep it close to your heart.
When I used to visit Florida with my family as a little girl I used to get sun blisters all the time!
What a wonderful wonderful memory!!! Your Dad was very special. Welcome home but we do so wish you could have left the fever blisters at the beach. Gosh they must be painful, I guess hubby gave you a peck on your cheek!!
What a sweet post!!! I can almost smell the salty ocean... I grew up at the Jersey Shore and just love the beach too. My brother and I would go surfing together early in the morning. Loved to sit on my surfboard and look out over the ocean.... Sorry about your lip! Hope it feels better soon. We are doing better here, got Miss Ginger a mesh muzzle for the walks. She was unhappy at first but got the hang of it. Our walk was delightful and stress free for Mom. We all send hugs and kisses to you, Miss Kit!!! xoxox
Oh Kit, I'm sorry about the fever blisters---but if I could have a week at the beach, I wouldn't be complaining. Hope you didn't get a sunburn also.
I've been to Tybee and love it. Looks like your Daddy loved it there also.
Hugs,
Betsy
Great family photo - nice to see Dads know how to have fun.
And the blistery lip is minor compared to all the fun you had:) Mom misses the ocean.
While more painful, it was cheaper than collagen injections! I bet you look very stylish with your fat lips! LOL....I bet you had fun, too!
Great shot of your dad...
