Three of the five members of this family are going to New Mexico...
Since the day I brought Buddy home from the shelter, he has demanded my attention and would rather have negative attention from me than none. When I have to correct him, he is the only one who doesn't get upset, as he still wants to lick and and gently hold my hand in his big, wet mouth. He is honestly a big, goofy galoot and his size alone gets him into trouble.
Buddy and I will spend our time "home alone" working on discipline with no distractions. Without realizing it, Buddy has enlisted in Doggie Boot Camp for the next several weeks.
Hopefully this extra, one-on-one attention will have him better prepared for our next cross country RV trip to Oregon, scheduled for later this summer. Poor fellow has the body of a bear and the attention span of a gnat, but he is a sweetheart and wants to please, so I'm hopeful that we will make good progress. It certainly will be quiet around here without the others. I think we all could use a break from the sound of our own voices. Now the only one who doesn't know the secret is Buddy. He'll figure it out soon enough.

Wow, a field trip with your daddy. That sounds fantastic. Make sure you bring lots of toys and suncreen so the sun won't burn your nose! And bring lots of things to scare away the snakes!
That's not my type of family vacation either- I hope your husband and the dogs have fun. You'll enjoy your alone time with Buddy.

Morning Harland Family!!
Here's wishing D, S and Z a great trip filled with lots of star gazing...we have an astronomy club here in my dept. so I understand the infatuation and beauty of the heavens. Kit I have enormous faith that you and Buddy will be successful....you might need to pull out all the tricks you used in Kindergarten but hey if they work so be it!!! I loved your endearing description of Buddy...kind of sounds like the first day of school with 30 new students...at least you'll just have one. HA!!

Hubby will have some serious fun! I'd like a camping trip like that! Buddy will have fun, too, with his Rama. A good time for bonding to be sure. Does Love and Logic work on doggies, I wonder?

Best wishes to David and the "kids" on their trip to NM, safe travels! Envious of the dark skies he'll see!
Where does he pack all of that equipment?!
Buddy will do great with Rama without the distractions of his siblings! (Raider has the same attention span, too!)
Hugs and belly rubs,
Kathy
My mom is smiling fur she'd be the one staying behind as well!

Awe Buddy I think you are absolutely adorable. =) if you need any company I am on my way. =)
You sound like one of my tennis friends, a retired schoolteacher who travels separately from her husband for many many years!! She and her doggie even go camping alone!
Enjoy yuor special time with Buddy. In October, Jeter will have lived with us for 2 years. We are not entirely sure how old he is but I think he is between 3 - 4 years old. Jeter came to us with many serious issues. Of my 3 dogs, Jeter is the tiniest (he might weigh 5 lbs soaking wet) and had been the most abused. If you could have seen the huge scar on his flank that he arrived with, you would want to personally hunt down whoever did that to him....... But with much love, patience and work the entire time we have had him, he is turning the corner! Buddy is very blessed to live with you. I am so glad he found his way to you and your husband. xoxo
So happy Zack can go on the trip this time! Sassy will have someone to talk to besides D! I know Buddy will benefit from undivided attention! I think part of the issue is coming so close to death...through no fault of his own. Something like that stays with you!! Do tell him the secret soon so he realizes this is really all about him!!! SH
That's nice that your hubby has the dogs to take along! Do they stay close to him - no danger of running away? I'm sure Buddy will enjoy the 1 on 1 time with you!
Sounds like a fun trip! Good luck in boot camp buddy! :)
Kit
I agree...camping isn't for me either. Enjoy your alone time.
