Monday's Memory Mosaic ~Spunky

Hubby and I found Spunky as a stray in 1994.
She was the sweetest, most gentle dog I have ever known.
Spunky "mothered" everything she could, including our Lab, Comet, and our lop-eared rabbits.

Spunky passed away, in the backseat of the car, with her head in my lap, as we sped to the emergency vet. She was 13 years old and we believe she had a stroke. She did not suffer.

We did.

The toughest thing about loving them is losing them. She looks like such a sweetheart.

Memories are a two-edged sword. Wouldn't it be nice if we could only remember the good stuff and not the sad?

I could feel how you felt at that moment. It's really hurt and heartbroken. However, Spunky was so lucky to have your love and care and had those sweet years with you all. I'm glad she didn't suffer when she passed, yes, we did but we're also glad she passed peacefully.

Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures of Spunky.

She seems like a wonderful pup. It is good to know she passed peacefully even though it must have broken your heart.

We know Spunky enjoyed her life with you. The hardest thing about having pets is when they have to go to the Rainbow Bridge.

People who never have pets don't have a sense of the love felt for animals. The animals God created are meant to be cared for by man and you do a wonderful job, Kit! Including with the little snake!

How lucky for Spunky you found her, and how lucky for you to find such a wonderful girl.

Ok, now you made Beth cry! She gets all wet eyes when she reads stuff like that. I think she is saying something about how nice those people are and how blessed Spunky was to be able to be right with the people she loved when she went to the bridge. I'm not totally sure that's what she is trying to say -- she is blubbering pretty bad....

While I wouldn't change the year or 2 that we have with our senior dogs for anything, my dream is to share a long life with one of our pups like you did Spunky. What a beautiful girl! Her long life is a tribute to your love and care; how wonderful that you found one another!
