I can't remember how many times we've been to Crater Lake N.P., but I will never forget the trip during Spring Break, 1995.
It had started snowing by the time we reached the information office at the beginning of the ascent to the lake, so we decided to save time and not stop. We didn't think we needed any info...
The road was completely snow-covered and the parking lot was empty when we reached the lodge.
It was snowing very hard and kind of eerie since the place was deserted, so we started back down the mountain.
When we reached the info office we went inside to check out the gift shop. The park ranger apologetically informed us that the road to the lake was closed due to weather and that we wouldn't be able to visit.
He was shocked when we told him we had just returned from the lake. He wanted to know where Hubby had learned to drive on snow like that.
"Birmingham, Alabama," he replied, in his best Forrest Gu-ump voice.
Ha!
FYI:
Before we retired and bought an RV, we flew to Portland and rented RVs several times.
If you're considering buying a recreational vehicle, I would strongly recommend renting before buying.

I have been to Crater Lake too but have never experienced snow there. What fun!
Hugs, Gail
Khyra is going to use this pics for dreaming tonight!
Nice driving :) Beautiful Crater Lake! Must have been a great snow adventure in Southern Oregon. Love the area. Agree on test-driving the RV before you buy....this evening we were looking at bigger camper floorplans, ours has become too tiny! Yet, it works for our travel locations... hmmmmm!?!
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
Sierra Rose
We could have done with an RV last week with all the snow we had. It's all melted now! :0)
Great driving lol. And great snow pics!

It's been a lot of years since I've been to Crater Lake, but it's on the list.
We didn't rent first but are VERY happy with ours! I can see where it would help though....
That's a good one!!! Lots of love, Holly and mom
Sounds like a great time. My parents rented several diffrent ones before buying - they loved doing it that way!
Hi Kit and Pups,
You might have some snow before this little cold snap is over!! We are suppose to get down to 22 tonight. A hard freeze!! I heard Atlanta was going down to 20. That means it will be colder for you, right??
Hugs girlfriend, Fern

Wow...what a Most Wonderful memory! And your dad sure was a good snow-driver!
Thank you for that very good advice. My mom and dad talk all the time abouts buying one of those movable houses but you're prolly right that they should rent one first.
