Sunday is for Family

Great Aunt Alta, Uncle Jack (holding me), and Grandma
Frederick County, MD
~1954

Great Aunt Alta was my maternal grandmother's sister. She was quite proper in her mannerisms and speech (aka An Old Maid), and she made me feel very uncomfortable as I got older.

Uncle Jack was Mother's baby brother. He was always my favorite uncle. As a little girl I wished Uncle Jack was my big brother and would come live with us.

Being an only child could be lonely at times.

Happy Trails,

Thia is a precious picture - I'm an only child too! And like you I always dreamed of a brother but I wanted him to be my twin.

How handsome Uncle Jack was! And your mother looks just like your grandmother. Had never noticed before, but this picture shows it. I had aunts like your great aunt...always with the purse in pics! You were such a cute toddler! SH

Morning and happy Sunday...
What a nice picture...I recall having several folks in the family similar to your Aunt....I guess it takes all kinds of folks to make the world spin.

Prim and proper can be a bit off putting.

I love the picture. I remember when everyone got all dresed up like that. Your Uncle Jack reminds me of my mother's youngest brother who always took me places, drove the train on the mountain at Mill Mountain Zoo and let me ride around in it constantly. you are so right...being an only child was very lonely alot of the times.

Kit I so love the family photos especially the ones from Frederick County, Md, my birthplace and where I grew up. I grew up in downtown Frederick. This photo looks like it was taken at one of the lookout sites, like Gambrill State Park or the overlook in southern Fred County. I also have some old pics that were my grandmothers and I enjoy looking at them.

My two children are almost 8 years apart. Until he was 8 years old, my son was an only chid. Then, when he left for college, my daughter was just ten and she often felt the same way. No one to play with. Since you were an only child, you had a lot of love poured your way from your relavtive, I bet!

Yes an only child is very lonely growing up. That is another thing we have in common!!! I had a Uncle Jack too. And he was my favorite uncle.
I call the coons front paws, hands.
When a coon trust you she will touch you with those front hands ever so gently. It is a thrill!!!
Thanks for sharing your family with us.

Cute picture, Kit.... Such a Cutie you were/are....

I wasn't an only child--but might as well have been. My oldest brother was 20 yrs. older than me and the middle brother was 12 yrs. older than me. SO---once Jimmy turned 18, I was about 6.... From that time on, I felt like an only child since both brothers left home....

I never had a sister --and always wanted one. Life did/does get lonely in a small family. I am the only one left of us... At least I have 3 wonderful sons and of course, my George.

Hugs,
Betsy

Hey, we almost have tangled roots. I spent a lot of time in Frederick as a kid. I wonder if you've been back. It's almost unrecognizable compared to twenty years ago...

Nice to have a fun uncle! I have 2 that were favorites though they were way out of 'brother' age range. :-)
YES those are Mandevillas! I have 4 and could seriously use some advice on pruning and shaping them! They are growing like crazy in spite of my black thumb :-) If you are knowledgeable in this area I would love to pick your brain email me at labramoose AT gmail DOT com

That is a great photo! Being an only child must have been difficult at times, but at least nobody stole your toys.

The designers of the MBT shoes are quick to point MBT out that this is not a shoe in the ordinary sense. That it is an anti shoe MBT shoes of sorts. The concept is that normal shoes are against human nature, that are body is designed for MBT walking barefoot on soft and uneven ground, and this footwear is more in line with that. With a specially designed sole, wearing MBT shoes improves posture and mbt walking shoes your gait and relieves pressure on your back. It also gives your muscles, including often neglected muscles, a nice workout mbt shoes sale whether walking or standing in place. By working a lot of different muscle groups, this footwear also leads to a more stimulated metabolism and thus burns more calories.

The key element behind the MBT's physiological, muscle and discount mbt shoes calorie burning benefits is the patented sole construction. The core elements of this design include a mbt shoes cheap specially designed shank, PU midsole with balancing area and the Masai sensor. All footwear etc of which work in concert to create a soft surface that it like walking on a beach. MBT shoes MBT promote an unstable environment for your feet, which gives all the benefits I've listed above.

The MBT shoe is discount mbt shoes available in two different sole designs, which is something relatively new. The first type is buy mbt shoes the integrated shank construction, which is the original sole mbt shoes review design found on the styles like the MBT Sport or the mbt shoes clearance Kisumu sandals. The second, and newer design is the dual board construction. This design offers a mbt shoes sale little lower profile than the integrated shank sole, but still preserves the foot's natural rolling movement and gives mbt shoes sale all the same benefits.

Choosing a quality mbt discount shoes brand name fitness footwear like MBT shoes will prevent you from having mbt sneakers to buy many more pairs in the future. If you buy mbt sneakers quality the first time around, you may pay a little more, but will save in the end by mbt shoes clearance not having to repeatedly buy more over the years. Plus, with all the benefits buy mbt shoes to your body, you'll have less expensive medical bills down the line.
