Sunday is for Family

Mother and Daddy
~1950

This was Mother and Daddy 's engagement announcement photo used in the Savannah News Paper.
They were married March 26, 1950
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Bull St.
in Savannah, GA.
They spent their honeymoon on a train headed for Daddy's new Marine Corps post assignment, Philadelphia, PA.

Mother had never been out of the southeast.
Suddenly she was married to a Polish Catholic Marine from Erie, PA, and she was living in Philadelphia, PA.
I think Mother was pretty "spunky" for her day!

Happy Trails,

What a gorgeous woman.... And your daddy is handsome also.... Such a fabulous couple!!!!

Going from GA to PA had to have been culture shock for your Mom in the '50's.

Thanks for sharing.

Betsy

Real spunky for all her days! You get some of that from her. But your daddy had spunk, too. No way you could miss! That's what lets you take off to AK on your own! Great pic! SH

What a beautiful couple they made and what a brave lady she must have been!!! That is not something most women would have been strong enough to do in her day.
